Chiquito Mexican Restaurant at Birstall, Leeds

My family and I paid a visit for the first time to Chiquito Mexican Restaurant at Birstall, Leeds.
The building from the outside looks very enticing; with so much free parking it was very easy to find a space very close to the entrance.
We were greeted straight away with a nice warm friendly manner and seated in the lavish Mexican styled restaurant with the comfiest seats ever imaginable.
Above our heads was the most stylish and quirky candelabra made from beer bottles and the beer caps made into wall lamps, I want one!
Whilst we were browsing the menu we were given a bowl of nachos to nibble on. We decided to dine from the lunchtime menu which is available Mon – Fri 11am to 5pm.
We were feeling so hungry so we went for the 3 course option for £9.99 with a soft drink, beer or wine for only £1.50 extra.
For starters my boys ordered Nachos for one which looked more like nachos for 3! A mammoth mountain of gooey cheesy melted splendour. My youngest son had the garlic flat bread, my husband had chicken wings with a bbq sauce and I had the most delectable bruschetta I have ever tasted. We were even brought extra side plates in case we wanted to share.
For the mains my boys had the Chiquito classic burger which is a very generous portion with succulent juicy burgers. My husband had the chicken tortilla wraps and I had the enchiladas for the first time and now have a new found love for them and as I am a vegetarian I had the vegetarian chilli option.
I have visited many restaurants and my main bugbear with them is the lack of vegetarian options and this menu was full of them, 10 in total just on the lunchtime menu.
We were defiantly full after the mains but it would be rude not to try one of the delicious deserts on offer. My husband and boys all had the chocolate brownie which was a hearty portion of delicious brownie and creamy ice-cream.
I decided to try the banana Taquiro as I was curious as the description said it is bananas wrapped in a cinnamon tortilla fried and served warm with a toffee sauce.
The presentation of the desert was fantastic and the taste was too! A little heavy after the other two courses I struggled to finish the full desert but it was defiantly different and delicious.
From start to finish our server was very friendly and extremely helpful, even offering to swap the goat’s cheese in some of the vegetarian dishes for a different cheese as I am allergic to goat’s cheese.
Before the deserts came I managed to have a quick word with the server and mentioned it was my sons 10th birthday and asked for a candle in his desert.
When the deserts came we all sang Happy Birthday and she even shouted to the whole of the restaurant that it was Jakes birthday and they all gave him a huge round of applause. He went bright red but loved the attention, if that wasn’t enough the server then appeared with a kids cocktail with balloons attatched. It made his birthday so special now Jake wants to return every year to celebrate his birthday at Chiquito.
The staff at this restaurant went above and beyond and made our experience special and I would highly recommend a visit.
