I am pretty sure  we all have family members who are total technophobes, and find it extremely difficult using the mobile smart phones that are currently on the market with all the touch screen technology.

My father has always had a real issue with seeing buttons, texting, storing numbers and even taking pictures to but name a few of his phone issue's.
Now i needed to get my father feeling more comfortable whilst using a mobile phone.so i gave him The
515 from DORO to see if he could learn how to use it without any assistance from me or my husband.
This is a feature phone rather than a smart phone, and has been designed with all the latest features to simplify things for those who just want a phone to be a phone, not an all singing all dancing media device.

This is a totally straight forward device it does all the basics you need from a mobile phone.
You can make & receive calls & Text messages, take pictures with the very simple camera feature.
The volume control goes to the loudest sound i have ever heard on a mobile phone, ideal for people with partial hearing.

This mobile phone is not overwhelming especially for the elderly who do not require the Internet or social network apps.

My Father is a joiner and works around machinery and cement all day long and he literally damages phone's left right and center.
Yet this has not been the case with this phone because it is robust and remains intact and i have checked this with him since he got the phone and it is still in one piece.
He has also mentioned that the phone is so easy to use and i actually found him storing a number in it the other day which is a total first. He has also taken pictures of jobs that he has been working on and found this amazingly easy to understand and operate.

He is so excited that he can actually look back at pictures he has taken with ease.

Once the mobile is powered up you are presented with a basic home screen, which has bright white text on a green background it's very striking really. The screen size is 1.5 inch and whilst this is fairly small although the text on the screen is large and stands out.
It has completely done it's job and my Father loves it because it fits perfectly in his pocket.
You can adjust the menu text size, and one the home screen itself you have the time and date display quite nicely along with the signal strength and battery icons.  Again this is all very neatly displayed and very easy to understand.
I think the great thing about this phone is when you go to the menu you don't have the typical layout with tons of icons to scroll through on the same screen, this phone has individual pages for each menu option which really makes it easy selecting your options.
From here you can see the large phone book icon, Call log, Camera, Image viewer, Alarm, Calender, Calculator, FM Radio,Torch, and SOS Settings in case of emergency.
You can even add all your medical details into the phone, which can be retrieved by a medical professional in the event of ill health or an accident.. genius idea!
Another function we all got pretty excited over was the large amount of ring tones you can choose from.
Please do not get me started on the torch which would be a lifesaver for me when i loose my keys in my handbag.

This phone truly does deliver and i look forward to seeing what DORO release next, as i will now be keeping my father up to date with this phone manufacturer.
I have asked my father what does he love about the phone and this is what he has said.
"THE FACT I CAN USE THE PHONE IS A GOOD START, I do not feel the same level of anxiety that i normally do when using a new mobile phone. "
"THE RING TONES ARE REALLY LOUD AND EVEN THOUGH I AM NOT HARD OF HEARING AT LEAST I CAN HERE THIS PHONE"
" I ALSO LOVE THE CAMERA,  I COULD NOT BE BOTHERED TAKING PHOTO'S ON OTHER PHONES ,AS THEY WERE JUST TOO HARD"
"I  CAN SAVE NUMBER'S SO WHEN YOU RING I CAN REJECT THE CALL" (I don't know if this is a good thing though).
I have also noticed the even larger technophobe my mother using this phone, again this is a first.
I have bought her phones in the past however they just ended up in the kitchen drawer. It's the first time i have heard my mum say " actually i wouldn't mind one of these".
All in all this phone has brought my father (almost my mother) up to date with technology and that for me is a total triumph.
I almost forgot to mention this phone is unlocked to any network which is another bonus, i have placed the spec's below.
