Turtle Fest 2013 At Sea Life |
Spring 2013 sees the arrival of Turtle Fest - three weeks of children’s activities and adventures dedicated to the endangered sea turtle.
Held at Sea Life Centre’s across the UK the event celebrates the opening of a £250,000 rescue centre in the Mediterranean for sick and injured turtles, which was funded with donations by Sea Life Centre visitors.
From May 13 – June 2, Sea Life centres will be hosting badge making, arts and crafts, face painting and quizzes, as well as a lot more turtle-themed fun, to help raise awareness and funds for the continued care of the turtles at their new rescue centre in Zakynthos and all included in the usual entry price. It’s not all for the kids; there will be talks as well for adults who would like to know more about the work that Sea Life and conservation group, Earth, Sea & Sky - who they teamed up with to build the rescue centre - do together.
Centres taking part are those at Oban and Loch Lomond in Scotland, and Blackpool, Birmingham, Brighton, Scarborough, Great Yarmouth, Hunstanton and Weymouth.
