Diggerland Castleford Review

I visited Diggerland in Castleford with my husband and two boys aged 9 and 14, I was a little dubious before going that this really wouldn’t suit the ages of my children as I imagined it to be full of little boys in wellingtons running around, they were plenty of under 5s in wellingtons trying out all the attractions and loving it yet diggerland is wonderful for children of all ages and adults too.

My eldest son absolulty loved the “Spin dizzy” where like the name suggests you get very dizzy where you get spun, shaken and elevated whilst seated in the bucket of a digger controlled by a man in the seating area.

All of us got the chance to actually drive a real JCB digger whilst the driver took the passenger seat and allowed us to drive it freely, this was incredibly exciting.

We were taken off road driving in a land rover and the kids got the chance to drive go-carts and dumper trucks.

Kids get the chance to dig for treasure, drive mini vehicles, drive tractors or just relax and have a ride on the land train.

Everyone is welcome at Diggerland, there is no age limit

Opening times are 10am – 5pm weekend and school holidays and open until 4pm in Feb & Oct.

There is a small catering van serving drinks and food and a wonderful hut selling ice creams and all kinds of sweets.

We took a picnic and found plenty of picnic benches to eat our feast, we did nip to the sweet hut after, it was hard to resite.

Before we left we visited the indoor play area which was for children up to 12 years and packed full of exciting soft play equipment and also had comfy sofas and tables for the parents.

The cleanliness of this park was excellent from the seating areas to the toilets.

The gift shop is packed full of Diggerland merchandise from clothes to teddy’s and toys and every child when leaving gets a diggerland certificate which I thought was a lovely touch.

Diggerland also do parties and corporate events and also sell gift vouchers a great idea for any digger mad little one!

I would like to thank the staff for making our day so much fun and exciting they were all super helpful and friendly.

I would highly recommend Diggerland for a fantastic day out this school holidays.
