Macdonald Berystede Hotel & Spa Ascot UK Review

Just on the outskirt of Ascot sits the Macdonald Berystede hotel and spa, set in breathtaking grounds dating back to 1362. On arrival we were warmly greeted at reception and even though we were early our rooms were ready for us and we were able to check in straight away. Our quest rooms were at the far end of the building so were advised which car park to park in and the hotels concierge was arranged to greet us to assist with our luggage. The concierge was extremely helpful and made us feel relaxed straight away with the offer of help at any time. We had two adjoining rooms and were slightly taken aback by the presentation of the rooms, the quality and layout was superb, little touches like speakers in the bathroom so we could hear the television whilst in the bath, bottled water and robes and slippers. Everything we could want and need was catered for including plenty of white fluffy towels which is a must for me. The remainder of the day we spent in the external hydrotherapy pool (over 16’s only) and the swimming pool (open 9am-11am and 3pm -7pm for children). My husband also spent a good couple of hours in the techno gym which he was extremely impressed with. For the children croquet and swing ball were available on the lawn and on the restaurant terrace a wide selection of giant garden games. After the children had worked up a thirst complimentary cookies & squash were on offer at the bar. After we had spruced ourselves up a little we headed for our pre booked meal in the Hyperion restaurant. It was more than a meal it was an experience. We had a sharing starter of meats, olives & fish which was over generous and more than enough for two. For our mains we both had the chef’s specials and enjoyed them emmensley.Deserts were the true icing on the cake again we trusted the chef and had the special a white chocolate par fee which was exquisite all washed down with a bottle of house white wine. The restaurant manager was so friendly, helpful and fantastic with the kids catering for their demanding requests. My youngest son came away feeling he had made a new friend. After a fantastic night’s sleep we headed back to the restaurant for breakfast, both full English and continental were available, kids even had their own buffet style breakfast to help themselves to which was a great touch I haven’t seen before in a hotel. The breakfast was a tasty & filling start to our busy day a head at Lego land. This hotel is in an ideal location for Lego land and just around the corner from Ascot racecourse and many other beautiful sights. Many thanks to all the staff who made our stay so perfect especially Restaurant manager David Jones and concierge Paul Smith for going above and beyond our expectations and adding those special touches.
